The Lido of Venice is certainly a place to visit if you are in the lagoon. It is the strip of sand in front of Venice that also plays the role of defending the lagoon from storm surges.

The Lido of Venice is first of all the beach of the Venetians, the most populated and popular. A place for vacation and free time, where you can go to escape the confusion and the invasion of tourists.

Going to the Lido means taking a trip out of town, on foot or by bicycle to enjoy the landscape of the Adriatic Sea but also to admire the Art Nouveau villas and hotels.

How to reach the Lido of Venice

The Lido of Venice can only be reached by sea with public transport lines. The vaporettos that move from Piazza Roma and the railway station are different, as are the vaporettos arriving from the Grand Canal in the Lido direction to the  Santa Maria Elisabetta stop.

You can also get to the Lido by carrying your own bicycle. Not all vaporetto lines have this service, it is advisable to inquire beforehand.

Arriving by bicycle at the Venice Lido is an excellent idea to be able to visit the beach and also the various Art Nouveau buildings, and spend a pleasant day.

What to do on Lido di Venezia

First of all, the Lido of Venice is a beach much loved by the inhabitants of the Lagoon.

A popular idea is to arrive by Vaporetto taking your bicycle with you. As soon as you land, you can visit the coast thus discovering the beauties of the coast.

  • On one side you can walk along the streets of the Marconi seafront with the huge umbrella pines that provide shade.
  • On the other side, the road that runs along the lagoon up to Malamocco where you can find the seafaring air of Venice.

There is Alberoni to visit, an area with sand dunes, a free beach and a WWF natural oasis, the dams of the port mouth up to the lighthouses, and then arriving by Vaporetto at Pellestrina.

A suggestion is to take the pedestrian road along the Murazzi, built in Istrian stone with a sea view, it offers visitors a unique view of the lagoon.

What to visit at the Lido of Venice

In addition to the free beaches and bicycle rides, the Lido of Venice is also the home of worldliness, especially during the Venice Film Festival.
